eSIM Installation Guide

Step-by-step instructions for all major devices

Installing your BlingSIM eSIM takes just a few minutes. Follow the instructions below for your device. We recommend doing this before you travel while connected to Wi-Fi.

iPhone (iOS 17+)

Method 1: QR Code (Recommended)

  1. Open SettingsCellular (or Mobile Data)
  2. Tap Add eSIM or Add Cellular Plan
  3. Select Use QR Code
  4. Scan the QR code from your email or dashboard
  5. Tap Continue and wait for the plan to activate
  6. Label the plan (e.g., "Travel Data")
  7. Set it as your primary data line when traveling

Method 2: Manual Entry

  1. Open SettingsCellularAdd eSIM
  2. Tap Enter Details Manually
  3. Enter the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code from your email
  4. Tap Next and complete the setup

Samsung Galaxy (S20 and later)

  1. Open SettingsConnectionsSIM Manager
  2. Tap Add eSIM
  3. Select Scan QR code from service provider
  4. Scan the QR code from your email
  5. Follow the prompts to complete installation
  6. Enable the eSIM and set it for Mobile Data

Google Pixel (Pixel 3 and later)

  1. Open SettingsNetwork & internetSIMs
  2. Tap the + button to add a new SIM
  3. Select Download a SIM instead?
  4. Tap Next and scan your QR code
  5. Wait for the download to complete
  6. Enable the new eSIM plan for data

Other Android Devices

The general process for most Android devices:

  1. Open SettingsNetwork & Internet (or Connections)
  2. Look for SIM cards or Mobile network
  3. Tap Add eSIM or Download SIM
  4. Scan the QR code and follow the prompts

Important Settings

Enable Data Roaming

After installing your eSIM, you must enable Data Roaming for it to work internationally:

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular → [Your eSIM] → Data Roaming → ON
  • Android: Settings → Network → SIM → [Your eSIM] → Roaming → ON

Set as Primary Data Line

When you arrive at your destination, switch your cellular data to use the BlingSIM eSIM:

  • iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data → Select your eSIM
  • Android: Settings → SIM Manager → Preferred SIM → Mobile Data → Select your eSIM

Keep Your Original SIM for Calls/SMS

Your BlingSIM plan is data-only. Keep your original SIM active for incoming calls and texts. Use apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime for calls over data.


Troubleshooting

  • eSIM not connecting? — Restart your phone, check Data Roaming is ON, and ensure the eSIM is set as your data line.
  • QR code not scanning? — Make sure you have good lighting and your camera is focused. Try the manual entry method instead.
  • Slow speeds? — Move to an area with better signal. Network speeds depend on local carrier coverage.
  • "Cannot Add eSIM" error? — Your phone may have reached its eSIM limit. Try deleting an old eSIM plan first.
